BlogDumps Top Sites Tuesday #29

"What was your first or favourite car?" is this week's theme. My first car was a Burgundy Red 1.3 litre Morris Marina! It was a good runner, but had poor suspension. But as my first car it was great and never really let me down. I had to sell it when there was too much rust and traded up to a Metro! Then I got a Ford Escort Mark III, which I only had for a few months before I moved to Australia. In Melbourne I drove a Holden Gemini RB which was a great little car. On my return to Birmingham I bought another Escort. After 8 happy years I bought a Rover 416 Mark II which lasted for 9 years before I got a company car - a VW Passat. This lasted 3 months before I was made redundant! Now I drive a Rover 75. I hadn't really thought about it till now, but I've been back from Australia for 18 years now and I'm only on my fourth car; two of those have been in the last 12 months!!.

Your Tuesday questions are: -
  1. Who was born today in 1925 in Grantham and became MP for Finchley in 1959?

  2. Which character in "Stargate SG-1" was played by Christopher Judge (right) who was born today in 1964?

  3. Who was poisoned today in 54AD and replaced as Roman Emperor by Nero?
Yesterday's Answers: 1. Mexico City; 2. Kate Capshaw; 3. Grand Hotel

My hubby was driving a Ford Escort as well when we were in Birmingham. But Rover's a great car. Very expensive over here. And to your earlier question, yes we were staying in Bournville. So does that make us ex-neighbors at some point? Here's my click.

Wow, I had an Escort to, in fact I have had two of them and they are great cars. My first one my hubby just did fit in it too well, he was 6'8" tall. One time he was driving it and moved his leg and shut off the head lights. LOL! Not to long after that a big truck ran over it when I was parked in front of a store shopping. The truck totaled it, smooshed it!

Here's your click .........

Love and Blessings,

Seems like everyone had an Escort at one time or other--me, too! Mechanically, it was great, but despite being a new car (it was maroon in color), when I would wash it, the soapsuds would turn pink! (Never had a car where the paint washed off!) It also did not have A/C in it, and I remember a miserable time driving cross country in it (camping) during August! CLICK!

Yes it looks that way, I had an Escort once... It did the job for sure.

Have a great Tuesday Pete!

Gosh! I feel left out!! I never had an escort! That's OK though I really like your first car, it's pretty cool - very European looking! LOL

Happy Tuesday!

Thanks to the 'Escort Owners Club' for your kind comments.

Liggy, the Morris Marina was an English car built originally by British Leyland. It was not a great car, but pretty reliable!!

Cheers,
Pete
