Bad Day to Fly?

Searching for questions, and again I've unearthed an interesting and worrying coincidence. Within the space of just seven years there were five fatal plane crashes on 31st October! In 1994 American Eagle Flight 4184 crashed killing 68 people; in 1996 TAM Flight 402 crashed killing 99 people; in 1999 EgyptAir Flight 990 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean killing 217 people; in 2000 Singapore Airlines Flight 006 collided with construction equipment on take-off from Taipei killing 83 people and in Angola a chartered Antonov AN-26 crashed twenty minutes after take-off (possibly downed by UNITA terrorists) killing 48 people. Hopefully the unlucky run of plane crashes on this day is over now!

Your Saturday questions are: -
  1. Author Dick Francis was born today in 1920 and, infamously, rode which horse in the 1956 Grand National?

  2. What was the only UK No 1 hit single for Vanilla Ice (right) who was born today in 1967?

  3. Who was born today in 1930 and was the command module pilot on Apollo 11?
Yesterday's Answers: 1. Formula 1; 2. Istanbul; 3. Italy
