Wikipedia Editor Crisis?

In the first three months of 2009 Wikipedia has 'lost' 49,000 of its volunteer editors! Where they have been lost the article doesn't elaborate, nor does it say how many there are left! If Wikipedia is in trouble, then that's a problem for me as most of my 'Today's the Day' information comes from there!
