My apologies, I'm a bit late with this 'news'! I discovered this article on the BBC website detailing the history (and 'boredom quotient') of the ubiquitous PowerPoint. Apparently it began life as Presentation and was conceived on 14th August 1984 by Robert Gaskins. The name was changed to PowerPoint in 1987 because of a trademark problem and introduced a couple of months later. So, now you know who to blame for those many, many, many wasted hours looking at superfluous slides and trying to keep awake!
Your Thursday teasers are: -
- Actor James Marsters (right) was born today in 1962 and played which character in the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"?
- Who composed the "1812 Overture" that debuted in Moscow today in 1882?
