Australian band Men at Work have been ordered to pay 5% of their royalties (from 2002 onwards) to the song "Down Under" after a judge ruled that they had plagiarised from a children's song! Larrikin Music, owners of the rights to "Kookaburra Sits in an Old Gum Tree" had sought 60% of the royalties, but the judge ruled that to be excessive. Having heard the children's song (here) I think the judge got it about right!
Your Wednesday questions are:-
- Drummer Ringo Starr (right) was born today in 1940 and narrated the first two series of which children's animated TV show?
- In which country was artist Marc Chagall born today in 1887?
