A stretch of the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal is now unnavigable following the actions of vandals! By opening the paddles at Minworth Top Lock water has drained from a 2 - 3 mile stretch of canal into a pound that is no more than 500 yards long. This resulted in a breach of the canal wall and flooded the nearby A38 road which is a main artery in and out of Birmingham! The locks are protected by anti-vandal devices which are simple and effective, but don't always work and/or are not reset by each boater that uses the lock! It's hard to know what motivates people to do this sort of thing and equally hard to know how British Waterways could prevent all such occurrences!
Your Saturday questions are:-
