I'm constantly amazed at the number of occasions where someone claims "I wrote that" some time after a successful novel/song/film has been published! JK Rowling has been accused by the estate of late author Adrian Jacobs of plagiarising a portion of his book "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard" in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". This book was published in 2000 and they've only just got around to claiming...to me that sounds more like a cynical attempt to extract maximum value rather that a genuine grievance! I'm not a "Harry Potter" fan, but it seems to me that there are generic themes and situations involved in the fantasy genre and there will be coincidences like this all of the time!
Your Friday questions are: -
- On which Japanese island did 30,000 US Marines land today in 1945?
- Beth Ditto was born today in 1981 and is the singer with which American indie rock band?
