138th Open Golf Championship

Today sees the start of the Open Golf Championship (the 'British' Open to our American cousins!) on the Ailsa Course at Turnberry. Can Tiger win his fourth Claret Jug, will Harrington get out of his slump and win again or could Monty do it this time? I'll be watching as much as I can on the BBC. It looks like a great course and should be a thrilling tournament!

Your Thursday questions are: -
  1. Who became President of Iraq today in 1979?

  2. 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson (right) was born today in 1888 and finished his baseball career at which club?

  3. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with which planet today in 1994? (Collisions continued until 22nd July)
Yesterday's Answers: 1. Boeing 707; 2. United Kingdom (Hampshire); 3. Napoleon Bonaparte
