World Crisis 2030 - "Perfect Storm"

I came across this report on the BBC website (source of most of my news) about how the world will face a major crisis in 2030 when "growing world population will create a 'perfect storm' of food, energy and water shortages. Call me callous, but if resources are low and the population is increasing, why do we continue to work to prevent global pandemics of Bird 'Flu and similar 'plagues'? Surely these 'natural disasters' are just Mother Earth's way of thinning out a 'pest'!

A damned good question! What the world needs now is another good old fashioned Black plague.

I really need to find a site like yours in the US. I am not familiar enough with UK news to be able to answer very many of your trivia questions. Tho since getting on line about 10 years ago I have made a habit of reading the London Times. Brenda Bowers

Thanks for your comment. I try to make the questions accessible to as many people as possible by including American sports, entertainment and history questions alongside more 'English' questions. The main aim, though, is to stimulate a bit of thought to keep 'the little grey cells' working, as Hercule Poirot might have said!!
