Homing Snails?

It has been claimed that snails do indeed have a homing instinct and the BBC have set up an experiment to determine whether this is true and, if so, how far snails will travel to return home! I can't think of anything else to add as this seems a wonderfully marvellous way of wasting some time whilst adding a tiny bit to the sum of human knowledge - where would we all be without such quirkiness?
