Holiday at Risk???

A sixty mile section of the Leeds - Liverpool Canal is to be closed because of lack of water. Since the floods of November last year when the reservoirs were full there has been very little rain and they are now down to 10% of capacity! British Waterways will not allow them to go below this level to protect the wildlife. Our holiday plans don't include the Leeds - Liverpool canal, but our planned journey is to go via Manchester and hopefully there won't be any more closures. This is a big trip in a narrowboat (250 miles; 200 locks) and with less water about we can not make such rapid progress...so I would ask you all to do a rain dance for the next three weeks! Knowing our luck, it will start to rain about 5 minutes after we set off!
