Quiz Night @ Bull's Head

Last night was the regular Tuesday Night Quiz at the Bull's Head in Hall Green. I haven't mentioned it recently, but it is still going well with plenty of teams still coming along for an entertaining evening of gentle quizzing. It is still a mystery to me why/how, after 8+ years of presenting Quiz Nights, they appear to be as popular as ever...not that I'm complaining!!

Your Wednesday questions are: -
  1. Who was shot and seriously wounded by Turkish gunman Mehmet Ali Ağca today in 1981?

  2. What was the nickname of World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Joe Louis (right, in WWII poster) who was born today in 1914?

  3. Daphne du Maurier, who was born today in 1907, wrote which story that was turned into a classic 1963 film by Alfred Hitchcock?
Yesterday's Answers: 1. Mick Jagger; 2. Donna Noble; 3. Mike Weir

Bull's Head Quiz Night

Tuesday night is Quiz Night at the Bull's Head in Hall Green and I'm writing this just before I set off to present the quiz. Last week's runners-up were the Wacky Racers, who came second in a tie breaker. One member of the team is John Garghan who writes the blog You'll Never Look at them in the Same Way Again. He's also set himself the objective of taking a photograph every day and posting it on his Flikr site. Last Tuesday's photo is of me presenting him and the team with their bottle of wine and can be seen here.

Your Wednesday posers: -

  1. Which of Henry VIII’s wives gave birth to Queen Mary I today in 1516?
  2. Playwright Jack Rosenthal married which actress today in 1973?
  3. Born today in 1946, whose reporting of a famine of “biblical proportions” in Ethiopia led to the Live Aid concerts?

Yesterday's Answers: 1. Ruth Rendell; 2. "The Simple Life"; 3. Milan (La Scala)
