BlogDumps Tuesday #27

This week's theme is "My Favourite Thing About Fall"! This is difficult for me as I associate Autumn (as we call it in Britain!) with endings and have never really liked it as a season! It signals the end of the cricket season (the only sport I was halfway competent at!), the nights become longer than the days, the temperature starts to drop, the rain becomes more persistent, winter isn't far away and no more canal trips until next year!

However, I suppose it isn't all bad - the colours of the leaves are usually gorgeous, it's time for Conkers (conkers are the seeds from Horse Chestnut trees - see this link for further explanation) and in a few weeks time it will be bonfire night with the attendant firework displays. So, not so dismal after all!!

Having been away for a couple of weeks (and also forgetting!!) I'm back and ready to contribute to this week's theme - Your Favourite Pet/Animal Companion. For me this is easy only having had one pet in our family and that was our budgie Bobby. He would fly around our house and would land on any one of us at any time!

To be honest I'm not a fan of pets, so this probably isn't the best topic for me...but, hey, it takes all sorts to make a world!

BlogDumps - Top Sites Tuesday #21

This week's theme is favourite quotes. Again there are so many to choose from so I've restricted myself to just a couple from arguably the best footballer to have come from the British Isles - yes, Belfast born George Best! He lived his life to the full, retired from football too early, partied too much and died too young, but he gave pleasure to millions and, for those of us who started watching football in the sixties, the line-up of Best, Charlton and Law still brings back great memories!

Anyway, the two quotes that I like and sum him up best are:-

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

And as befits a man who would regularly fail to turn up for matches and other events - "I used to go missing a lot....Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World...."!

Fame At Last!!

When I started this blog in December last year I didn't really know what I was doing, other than, hopefully, amusing people and stretching their brains a bit! To be honest I'm still not 100% sure what I'm doing, but along the way I've tried various ploys and strategies to get my trivia to a wider audience. One such idea was to get listed on BlogDumps (great name) run by WolfBernz. I'm sure that I've acquired more hits from other sites, but none with the quality of readership that come through BlogDumps. This week I was the Top Site on Tuesday and I'd just like to thank everyone who voted and visited, the nice people at BlogDumps, my Mum & Dad and.....sorry started on an Oscar style blub!! Cheers!
