Braunston

By now we should have reached Braunston, which over the years has become something of a hub on the canal network. It stands at the junction of the Grand Union and Oxford canals and it is always busy! There are six locks which we will be descending after travelling through Braunston Tunnel and then struggling to find somewhere to moor up for the night!

Scunthorpe United off to Wembley

My home town team have made it through to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at Wembley after beating Rotherham 3-0 on aggregate last night. Although I was born in Scunthorpe, I've only ever seen them play once before - a 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion in an FA Cup replay many years ago. However, I always look to see their results. When they won Coca Cola League 1 in 2007 it was the first time, in my lifetime, that they had won a league trophy! Up 'The Iron'!

Joe Calzaghe Retires from Boxing

I'm not a major boxing fan, but I can appreciate when we have a world class talent. Thankfully, Joe Calzaghe has decided to get out of the ring while he is at the top. Undefeated in 46 fights, he has been a true champion.

Jonathan Ross is Back!!

So, tonight saw the return of Jonathan Ross to our screens. Although he deserved his ban, hopefully he will still be as irreverent as he was before. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he does earn his money - a chat show, a radio show and film reviews - its not as though he just does a half-hour show each week!! And then he'll be presenting the BAFTA's next month. No peace for the wicked!
